See who keeps going, from three angles.

GRITscore gives you a picture of effort and long-term focus in your team. Each player rates themselves, you rate each player, and a few teammates do too. You get a score per player and a starting point for a better conversation.

How it works

  1. Set up your team. Add your players and, if you like, split them into lines or groups.
  2. Launch a round. GRITscore gives every player a personal link and picks who rates whom, mixing groups so friends don't only rate friends.
  3. Share the links. Players open theirs on a phone, rate themselves and two to four teammates. No account or app needed.
  4. Add your view and read the results. Rate each player yourself, then see scores for effort and focus per player and for the team.

Three perspectives

Self-view counts for 30%, the coach for 40% and teammates for 30%. When one view is missing, the others are weighted up.

Twelve short questions

Six about effort (keeping going when it's hard) and six about focus (sticking with long-term goals). It takes a player about three minutes.

What GRITscore is, and isn't

The idea behind it is grit: sticking with long-term goals and working hard at them, even when progress is slow. GRITscore uses its own questionnaire, written by The Hockey Site for coaches. It's a tool to start a conversation with a player, not a psychological test, and it shouldn't be the only thing behind a selection decision.
